GM also just announced the opening of a third IT center here in the US. It's likely part of the move of 10K jobs back to the US. GM has discovered that "outsourcing" or "offshoring" jobs is not that productive. Many companies, large and small, have come to the conclusion that more technical the job is, the less productive it is to send it outside the US. The movement of call centers back to the US has some foreign call center companies trying to establish their call centers here in the US to stop the loss of business at home.

Not really news, so to speak. They announced last year that they would be moving 10,000 jobs back to the states that were overseas, many of those being IT and call center related jobs.

I remember reading it back then too. Now it's coming to fruition at last! The IMPORTANT thing will be if it REALLY changes things so that we get REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE and NOT LIP SERVICE! THAT will be the real test! Time will tell.
