Hi all just bought a 2011 Cruze RS with 38k out of desperation for transportation, would never consider this car but the price was right.....WELL holy crap!! I am enjoying the heck out of this car would have never of thought. looking at all the potential of this little runabout is getting me excited, right now i am just driving the car to get the 2-year-old gas out of it and see if there are any issues, so far everything works. So right now I don't know where to start but my endgame is to have a sleeper. So any suggestions would be appreciated. I am looking for easy stepping stones so as to add to existing upgrades seamlessly over time.

Peace All

Welcome Aboard!(y)

After you get all the factory systems up to par, start with a tune.

Guessing its a 1.4 if its got the RS package.
Get the PCV system repaired, even if nothing is wrong with it now.
Then look at the cooling system and replace anything that looks sketchy or weak.
Then start modding.

Same! I bought a 2014 LT and I love it, I didn't think I would but it was better than anything else in my price range and with supply chain issues, slim pickings! I still paid way too much, but if I didn't jump on something, I was about to either be pulled off the road or worse in my Dodge Death mobile.
It helped that the prior owner tinted the windows, put black wheel covers on (although cheap) and did the black overlay on the Chevy decal...I think mine is the sexiest on the road.
Dealer tried to put me into a silver LS, I test drove it and said MEH, Looks like a secretary's car. So then he had to put gas in so I could test this one...I said, this is it.
And it was mine for 4yrs of biweekly payments at 17.5K (Canadian)
I am pretty sure I save 1 payment a month in gas though!

If you like turbo whistles/noises & want more throttle response then a ā€œCAIā€ would be a good start too. I personally removed the OEM intake system along with all the plumbing behind the passenger wheel fender and added a spectre intake (cheaper version of the K&N intake… since K&N owns spectre lol)… however I did modify it a bit more to my liking. Also if you haven’t found out already, this little turbo car loves higher octane gases (91/93 octane, etc) not only does it help A LOT with throttle response but it literally makes more power on a higher octane table, look around the forum, a few of the guys have posted about it in the past with proof and results.

I'd do the Big3 cable replacement even if they've done the recall on the battery cable to start and the V3.2 PVC Fix next, then the tune. I'd also check to make sure you don't have a blown vacuum regulator diagram in the valve cover. The engine can run fine with it blown at the cost of some oil loss. if you have been pushing it its more likely to go if you are also missing the intake flapper.
