Batteries tend to do better in colder temperatures. Heat kills a battery.

Electric range is greatly reduced in the winter, I believe this is part of the reason GM only sells the Electric Spark in California and Oregon. To quote part of the article below on the subject:

Nissan Leaf Owner: “We recently drove 19 miles one way on the freeway when it was minus 5. When we started out our range indicated 50 miles, but by the time we arrived we had only 12 miles of range and has used 9 of our 12 bars.”

The Spark EV is what's called a "Compliance Car". It's only being sold where GM needs to sell EVs in order to comply with a state law.
