Unfortunately my spare key is a solid plastic piece (Looks like and old school car key).
I was able to take the pin out of the replacement fob, but I don't have a key tip to replace it.

I'm diy savvy enough to cut the key from the plastic and fit in place, however isn't the chip in the plastic molding for the key?

EDIT:
Pics of my current and only key and the replacement fob I bought.

Using the links I posted above, you can find this key similar to the one you have.

I guess I do not understand what you want. Are you trying to program the transponder key or are you trying to add a key fob to a car that did not come with one?

If you are trying to program a key (not a flip key fob), try this after you have had it cut somewhere:

How to program a Chevy Cruze key.

Insert master key (original working key) into ignition.
Switch ignition ON.
Switch ignition OFF.
Remove master key.
Within 10 seconds insert new key and switch ignition ON.
New key now Programmed.
NOTE: A maximum of 8 keys can be programmed.
