New owner, Today!!! 2012, Summit White 1LT w/RS package!!

Hey, everyone.Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm known by my friends as AJ. I'm married (for 13 years) and have 3 kids. 20 yr old boy, 12 yr old boy, and a 6 yr old girl.We previously owned a 2006 Montana SV6 AWD, and while it is a great people mover, it was too much of a gas guzzler.

Since the 20 yr old boy has his own car, we don't really need the people mover anymore so we traded the van for a 2012 Cruze 1LT with the RS package. Jet Black interior, auto, driver's convenience package, and floor mats!!! WHOO HOO!!!

So far, we really like the car. It'll be my wife's daily driver, as I have a 1999 Olds Intrigue that's mine.

I'm very well versed on cars, in general. I currently have a 1971 Camaro as my toy. It's nothing special, but it's a whole lot of fun as long I as concentrate on keeping it between the ditches. I also have a passion for car audio. So much that I have an over abundance of stuff sitting around collecting dust. Eventually I'll put something in the Cruze, I just don't want to take up too much of the valuable real estate in the trunk. Since the Olds has a huge enclosure sporting two 10" Fosgate P3's, using the trunk in it is quite a challenge.

I hope to have fun here, help a few people, and learn a lot while I'm here, as well as make a few acquaintances. Although, it's inevitable, I'll try to avoid bumping heads with people as much as possible and not step on any toes while I'm here.

Godspeed,
AJ

You sound like my kind of guy. I also have a passion for audio in general; I design high end home theater speakers. I measure the speaker drivers on a measurement baffle with a precision measurement microphone, test them with a woofer tester, simulate the crossover, design that, put the crossover together, build, finish the cabinets, assemble, etc. Truly built from scratch and puts anything you find in a retail store to shame. Car audio is no exception; see the first link in my signature. I've got one **** of an SQ install in progress on my Cruze that you may be interested in.

Those intrigues are nice. My wife drives a 2000 Regal GSE, same w-body platform. Suspension issues are annoying, but the car's nice and the L67 pulls hard.

Welcome to CruzeTalk. Seems like you've got a winning combination there with that cruze.

Welcome and congratulations on the new Cruze! Had a 2000 Intrigue (wife's car), got rear ended about 2 weeks ago. Insurance company totaled it. So now wife has new Honda CR-V LX AWD in the driveway, and car payments. I like cars and music too. Other cars include 2011 Black Granite Metallic ECO 6M, 2004 Pulse Red GTO 6M and 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde 3.0 5M. Home audio gear includes Audio Research, Music Reference, VPI and Martin Logan and tons of vinyl.

Yeah. I've read a few of your posts and your overall knowledge supersedes mine, exponentially. Just because I have a passion for it doesn't mean I'm "great" at it. LOL I'm not bad, but have a lot to learn. Then again, don't we all?

I like the Olds a lot. I know what you mean about the suspension, though. The front stabalizer bar on ours has been broke since we bought it. I guess it's a common problem and I just never really cared enough to replace it. All I know is that car rides fantastic some days, and others is sounds like pieces are falling out about ever 1/4 mile.

Mine has the LX5, 3.5L DOHC "Short Star". Pretty good engine, but was only rated at 15 HP more than the L36 (The l67 wasn't available in the Olds), and SUCKS on MPG! The gear ratios completely stink for the RPM band that engine runs at, but whatcha gonna do, right? She's got 169,000 miles on it, and all I've really replaced under the hood is the alternator. Major PITA to do, but I really can't complain.

Ouch!!! I hope everyone's OK?

You have quite an array of cars. I used to have more vehicles than I did clean underwear, at any given moment, but I got out of that after the first rug rat poked his head out. Parental responsibilities win every time. :uhh:

Thanks, both of you, for the friendly welcome. I'm currently unemployed, so I'll be here frequently for the time being. I look forward to pestering everyone here as much as possible. :)

Welcome to CruzeTalk.com! I love the old Camaro's. I used to have a 1978 Z-28 4spd. Miss that car from time to time!

That LX5 is a pretty nice motor. Big though. So big in fact that they used a special slim fan assembly for it to make the motor fit. I know this because I had to use an LX5 fan assembly in my 95 Regal to make the headers fit, lol. That motor begged to be bolted to a 5 or 6 speed manual. Very clean burning too if I recall. I knew a guy who got insane smog numbers on his without a catalytic converter even.

They seem to eat ball joints and tie rods regularly. Fortunately, the ball joints are only ~$60 or so, and they include control arms, lol!

Glad to have you around. Feel free to ask any questions; I'll teach you whatever you want to know about car and home audio. I too have a lot to learn, but I've got a few things figured out enough. :)
