Have a 2011 Chevy cruze LS (I think) 1.8l, 90,000 miles, 2cd owner and having issues! Car is stalling when I come to a stop has actually died a couple times but started back up no problem, after having a purge valve and knock sensor replaced a stabiliTrak and traction control light happened to appear car started choking out and occasionally a cloud of smoke will appear to come out of my exhaust. I've had several ppl look at it and have got several different diagnosis, I'm aware that my coolant is leaking because my heat went out and when I noticed Ichecked antifreeze and seen a small leak just had to add antifreeze and heat came back, was going to get that leak fixed but now I think I have a huge problem :( also there is a sqealing noise coming from somewhere :(

Have a close look at the water pump...very much sooner rather than later.

You'll have a timing belt maintenance due soon (97500-100K).

Stalling issue sounds sorta like a bad mass airflow sensor given the symptoms, but that is a wild guess based on things I've had other cars do. Is the check engine light on? If so, pull the codes, report back, and we can give you a better idea of what's going on.

The check engine light is on, The codes read something like system to lean bank 1 and o2 sensor also one person is telling me my battery is bad and another person saying alternator. I think I will go have the codes pulled again tomorrow before spending alot of money on parts not needed! and check with you again but I do remember those codes showing up. I've been talking to a couple people on here who seen to know alot more the the mechanics I've been dealing with!

This sounds like an air leak or bad sensor...not an alternator/battery issue.

That would cause the car to die or idle rough when stopped at a red light and sqeal loudly ? also thanks for all of your feedback !

Yes, potentially. Again, just a shot in the dark without codes, but a mass airflow sensor - or air leak that throws off oxygen sensor and mass airflow sensor readings - can cause erratic idle or stalling because the computer isn't getting accurate readings. The black smoke out the exhaust is a result of WAY too much fuel being dumped into the engine as a result of those readings.

I think the squealing is either the serpentine belt in need of replacement, or the water pump leaking onto the serpentine belt.

Not sure where I got the info from, the 1.8 in the Sonic had an issue where it had a leak in the manifold somewhat that eventually takes out the cat. Also wild stab in the dark .

Oh man...lots of issues.

O2 sensor, multiple misfires (not a good sign), and EVAP codes. No MAF codes, though.

I think there is a large air leak on the intake side of things somewhere. Split intake manifold, hole in a hose, loose clamp...something of that sort.

would a bad alternator cause any of these codes?
would a bad alternator cause any of these codes? I'm in serious trouble huh?

Doubt it, and I don't think it's serious trouble...just needs to be found.
