New to the forum lady with a manual '13!

So im new and found this forum when looking up an issue with my car. I have the '13 manual LT. I absolutely love my car. But I've started having an issue. It has about 80k miles and has started shutting off. First couple times i thought maybe I spaced a bit and stalled it. The past couple times, I know I didn't. No typical alternator or starter issues. Anyone else have these issues? Or any ideas of what it may be?

Thanks in advance! I appreciate any and all info anyone has on my car. As it's new to me and I'm still in the process of learning about it.

Welcome onboard ms 13.

Are you always using a Top Tier Gasoline as directed by the owner's manual?
Welcome. Bad battery and possibly the recall on the negative battery cable first come to mind.
I have no direct experience with the Cruze, but a faulty ignition switch can cause this symptom.
Welcome to the forum!

Sorry you're experiencing issues. Have you taken a peek at the battery voltage in your information center? Also does your car have a 5-speed or 6-speed manual transmission?

I'm wondering if that blue Cruze in the Avatar is the car in question. Those look like the LS wheels so it may actually have a 1.8L naturally aspirated engine. Not 100% sure but I think the 1.8L only recommends 87. But I agree Top Tier gas stations should be used no matter the octane. If it is a 1.4L being used with like 85 octane maybe it's pulling so much timing it's stalling. Is that even possible?

In 2011 the 1LT got hubs and Canada still did it that way after that point. OP needs to update their location or post more pics/vin to verify trim.

Hello Latrisha, welcome to the forum! You've came to the right place - this forum is a great resource with tons of useful information. If you ever have any questions, there's definitely a great team of owners and vendors that are happy to help.
I have only used regular 87 gas. And yea, the photo in my avatar is my baby. It is the 1.8 and a 6-speed. I have not looked at the battery cables. And I don't feel it's the ignition switch. I've had ignition switch/starter issues in previous cars before and it wasn't anything like this. There is no problem starting the car. It just likes to shut off. The cables kind of makes sense. Which if there is a known recall, ill be pissed. I called the dealer and asked if there were any recalls and they said no. ? Even after explaining what was going on.
And thank you for all the feedback. I know a little bit about vehicles (mechanics daughter.....he struggles with all the computerized stuff with the newer cars though, that's why I didn't take the issue to him to look at) but I tend to have an idea of things.

Welcome to CruzeTalk!
Welcome to CruzeTalk. First, start by getting the negative battery cable replaced to ensure you have good electrical connections. Then, assuming this doesn't fix the problem, start looking at the exact symptoms when your car shuts off. Does it seem like it's the entire car, including the power guages in the instrument cluster or just the engine. If just the engine can you roll start the car after it occurs.

You have one of two issues - a bad ignition switch which would also "shut down" the instrument panel or a failing fuel pump which wouldn't shut down the instrument panel. If you can roll start the car it's most likely the ignition switch. If you can't roll start the car then I'd look at the fuel pump. We've seen more ignition switches than fuel pumps (I don't remember any failing fuel pumps).
It starts back up with no problem. The majority of the time it's happened when I'm sitting at a light. I don't even realized it's shut off until I try to go. One time it shut off when I was turning into a parking lot off the main road. Radio stays on. Fans shut off (ac/heat), gauges drop, etc like I had turned the car off. I will look into the cables for sure though.
