The Chevy Volt has an operating mode where it cycles its gas engine when it gets really cold. I have mine set to do this below 15 F. This morning it was 5 when I left for work. I had to stop to drop off library books and when I got out I got a whif of the exhaust. Gasoline exhaust stinks. I'm hoping full BEVs are cheap enough and the charging infrastructure is robust enough so that when I go to replace my Volt I have decent choices for a full EV.
