My daughter and I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze (it's hers but my name is also on it). It was taken in to the dealer for inspection and some warranty work (leaking oil pan). They told my daughter that the oil cooler needed to be replaced immediately and it would cost $1000. She asked why it wasn't covered under warranty. They replied that it was covered on 2015's and not 2014's? This cooler isn't part of the radiator, it's an intercooler mounted to the block and the oil filter housing is part of it. That seems like an engine part to me. Has anybody run across this?

We are in 2020 now, when was this 2014 put into service? Your warranty coverage unless you have supplemental protection is pretty much gone now? 3/36K New Car, 5/100K P/T warranty

I had thought that, as well, but they replaced the oil pan gasket under warranty on the same visit. This was the source of my confusion. You would think that they wouldn't have done either service. Maybe they were just being generous with the pan gasket.

They may have re-written the warranty since this is such a common leak on GM vehicles.

If you don't have the warranty booklet that came with the car, you can find year-specific manuals/warranty coverage on my.chevrolet.com
