Pairing phone to car?

I got it set up as far as the hands free calling. By the way I have an iphone in case that matters. So I always found when I had the phone hooked into the USB port that if I am using the GPS it will not come over the speakers. It just has no sound at all even from the phone. But when not connected the phone talks to me as normal. Is there something else I need to do so my GPS I use(WAZE) will come over the speakers?

Also I find that I can't use it as bluetooth to play my music. It only will play my music if connected by the USB port.

mws, sounds to me like you have a 2012 or 2011 Cruze. If so, take a look at the Bluetooth Stereo A2DP link in my signature.

No it is a 2015. I'm not much for actually reading the instructions all the time. But from what I saw it didn't seem like I could do what I'm asking about. I got the hands free calling ok, even though it pretty much can't distinguish my voice yet lol.
Is it possible that when you plug in to the USB outlet it is treating the phone as a store device? If so I don't think that it would output any sound at all. And when my wife had an iPhone and tried to play music over bluetooth it never worked quite right... but when she would play a video from youtube it would work just fine. So idk if it is something with iOS or not because my Samsung always worked fine.

When I hook it up thru USB it immediately connects to my phone for the music but that's without the bluetooth. But won't work for GPS over the speakers.
Does it pair over Bluetooth when you don't plug it into the USB port?

For music no. It does not pair. But I can use it for the hands free calling over bluetooth and not connected by USB.

In this case you don't have a Bluetooth enabled radio. Open the lower front console up per the first part of the thread I referenced and see if you have a PDIM. If you do you can replace the PDIM with a Bluetooth enabled PDIM.
