Hi,
This past Sunday I rebuilt the rear drum brakes of my 2012 Chevy Cruze
Drums
Spring kit
Adjuster
Wheel cylinder.

All went well and then I had my local shop flush the brake fluid system and put all new fluid in.

Now on the other side of this project and looking back I have to ask... does anyone else have a mother of a time finding parts for this car locally?

Seems like every part I check Advance, Auto Zone, Napa and O'Reilly's for is marked "Not in stock" and can only be ordered online.

During this project, I had left the driver side drum off to use that side as a reassembly reference for the passenger side . Like a dummy I forgot to put it back on before bleeding the passenger side brake and blew out the wheel cylinder.

I got luckily..sort of... O'Reilly's had one..exactly one in the area and since no one else had it they charged my $37 for it.

Is this a problem all over because of some GM crap or is it just my area? (I'm in Pittsburgh).

Come on Eddy....WTF. LOL

The availability issue is pretty widespread, drum brake cars are less common. The $37 issue is an Oreillys thing. An ACDelco is probably that much at a dealer.(they are less than $20online) At my local AutoZone(and in Pittsburgh) the cylinder is $21.
Its not just brakes though. Thermostat.. had to be ordered through the dealer cause the parts stores didn't have it. Windshield wiper control arm, E-Brake cables, the list goes on.

I love this car but I find it very difficult to find most parts on the shelf for this.

I can find them online easy enough.. Rock Auto has most everything.

Is this lack of on the shelf parts GM's doing or what?
