PCV Port Gunk - What do?

689 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  12ecofamilycar
Hi all, I recently popped the valve cover to tighten the upper guide (thanks to the click, tick and rattle list!). I obviously took that opportunity to take a look at everything and did notice some buildup in the PCV ports. While I haven't noticed any power loss or signs of a PCV issue, I'm wondering if anyone recommends trying to clean it out or just leave it as is. I've seen differing opinions on seafoam in this forum.

Regular oil changes with the recommended oil (although a lot of these were quicky-lube places until I recently got my own garage and started doing my own oil changes).

Yup, that is normal. That area doesn't need to be "clean", it just needs to stay open. I'd recommend using no chemicals, just scrape and wipe it out.
