When im stopped at a stop light and i let off the brake, i hear a popping sound, more likely from the rear end. The brakes seem to stop the car fine, so i have no clue what it could be. All though, i did have break squeak spray put on by the dealership about 5,000 miles ago, rather that makes a difference or not i don't know. it kinda sounds like a backfire, but it cant be because im fully stopped and it only happens once i let off the brake, not all the time either. About 35K miles on a 2014 model 1LT with added touchscreen.

HELP???

My first thought is the rear brake shoes are way in need of adjustment.

Many drum systems (rear) I've encountered over the years display this noise on pedal release.....once cleaned and adjusted, no sound.

Best I can offer from afar.
