I purchased and install all the parts for the Factory Backup Camera; Rear Trunk Applique that has built in camera and trunk wiring harness. After some digging into Wiring Diagrams in the Chilton & Haynes service manuals, and those provided by
@dhpnet on one of his post, I found that the body harness (runs from the rear of the vehicle, connects to the trunk harness, then runs up to the side of the vehicle next to the drivers feet) already contained the wiring for the backup camera, and so did the harness that runs from the body harness to the myLink/Infotainment Center. However nothing happens when Vehicle is placed in reverse; no blank screen, the mylink just stays on the current display it was on.
So I called around to several GM/Chevy Service Centers within 40 miles of my home, all of which refused to enable the feature, stating that its not possible to reprogram the BCM/Radio/Module/whatever to enable that function as all features/functions are coded to the vehicle VIN.
Question is, how factual is that? Can it really not be programmed to enable a feature/function if all the parts are there? Or should I keep calling to different service centers until one says they can do it?
I can't imaging it's not possible to change a few 0s and 1s to enable a simple feature/function especially if all the wiring, parts are present..
