Potential buyer looking for advice

I'm likely buying a 2014 in the next week or so. I'm trying to decide between an Eco 6mt and 2lt 6mt. What I'm looking for is:

1. what is the real 0-60 difference? I know the ECO is quicker but is it really that much? I know these are turbos for speed but I'm wondering
2. How much of a real difference is the lack of sound deadening in the ECO? I'm aware some of the soundproofing is off the ECO for weight and was wondering if the noise (esp on the freeway) is really noticeable.
3. is the lack of z-link really make the ECO handle poorly? Again, I'm not confusing these cars with GTIs.

I'm torn because I like the look/sport suspension of the 2lt but the quickness/efficiency of the ECO. Fyi, I drive 75 mi a day, mostly freeway/2ndary roads. There are a few stops towards the end for me to have a little launch fun.

With the miles you drive it would make way more sense to have the ECO manual gearing for better highway MPG. No the Eco doesn't handle poorly but there is a slight edge having the zlink in the rear. If you look at the zlink its pretty much just a fancy swaybar & doesn't really change the actual suspension much at all.
The ECO is not noisy on the highway, in fact I was surprised how quite it is. As far as handling - the ECO is not a poor handling car. It is light and more tossable than a 2 LT however the rear axle is not as well planted in bumpy curves as a 2LT. If you are mostly Highway - that is where the ECO 6MT really shines and gets some amazing MPGs.
Again, I'm not confusing these cars with GTIs.
Good, because the one that was traveling with me last weekend on the way to the track broke down with trans/clutch trouble, and the Cruze made it there no problem!

The eco has a very very very slight 0-60 time advantage only due to the slight weight difference (which best I can tell is about 300lbs, however in the 60-top speed zones the 2LT with a manual is faster as gears 3-6 arent as tall as the ecos. This is also dependant on how youre driving, if youre drag racing and redlining gears the eco is SLIGHTLY faster early on (0.1 second tops) but this can honestly be evened out by removing a few lbs from the 2LT. if youre pushing it but still rolling through gears like normal aggressive driving it wouldnt make any difference. And if it matters on the 2LT you get better tires and suspension from the factory. On top of the Z-link suspension spacedout mentioned its also sport tuned and doesnt roll as much through the corners, which having driven both an eco and 2LT extensively I can tell you the difference through tight corners (particularly in town windy backroads) is night and day. And the upgraded suspension is way more fun:p , but to that end I wouldnt say the eco handles poorly at all no, just not quite as nicely as the 2LT. Then theres the obvious stuff like heated leather seats and things. But yeah, my opinion is the money is worth the comfort and suspension upgrades, only reason id suggest and eco is if you plan on hypermiling for economy. As for the sound deadening its not really even really that noticeable. theyre both pretty quiet cars. I wouldnt let that be the decision maker if I were you. couple things I noticed that i would recommend considering is the cloth seats in the cruze are really really stiff and uncomfortable and never do really break in...the leather isnt the best in the world either but doesnt give me pain after hour+ drives like the cloth does.

It's what you want to be honest there both great , I mean the Eco dosent have fog light but then again it has some nice wheels , what ever you do get the rear disc breaks if it is an option on the Eco the drums are very outdated and should not even be there IMO
The CTD is a real champ too:)
I'm so grateful to have found this site. Much more info than I even expected. Thanks.

Two more questions: Has anyone added suspension upgrades to the Eco? I'm guessing it would shore up the handling without adding a ton of weight. Also, how long do the Eco tires last? I'm wondering if they wear out quick.

I bought a 1LT with 16in tires, I needed to replace them by 35,000 miles. From the reports I have seen on here I would have saved money buying the ECO, since their tires are easily going 50,000 miles.

1. minimal. The turbo is NOT for speed on these cars, it is to increase the hp though, I know that sounds contradictory. Without the Turbo the engine has around 74hp, which in a car as heavy as this is, would be incredibly slow.
2. My ECO is pretty quiet, even with my sub going, it doesn't really rattle that much.
3. The ECO handles very well.
The LT's 0-60 time suffers only because it has to be in 3rd to hit 60 MPH, but it pulls MUCH stronger through the gears due to their shorter ratios. I've been able to do it in 8-8.1 seconds...no race car, but not too bad for 138 HP.

That said, for long drives like you do every day, I'm sure you'd appreciate the 4-5 MPG extra from the Eco.

Weight difference is 87 lbs. The 200+ numbers come between an Eco MT and fully loaded AT LTZ.

great little cars to drive in my eyes.....really fragile right now. who knows how the turbo/ tranny will hold up I have a feeling really good, lets just keep our fingers crossed.

Whoops, meant turbos are NOt for speed. Missed the not. Doh

ECO vs 2LT... didn't notice much difference in sound deadening in city or long drives on turnpike. I'd get the 2LT if you wanted luxuries the eco can't give you like heated leather seats, a real 2 tone horn, Z link/rear disc brakes and most important RS bumpers. I felt the diff between Z link and whatever the simplified Eco rear has but you have to push bot cars harder than the salesperson will let you to find the true difference. 4 disc is gonna be noticeable even if rear drums are adjusted.

Guessing there may be some truth about tire replacement also. I've got 46k on mine and they will easily go past 50K by the time I replace them after summer is over. Road noise for the Eco is acceptable at the worst and quite honestly pretty good especially vs. others in it's class that I've driven (focus, dart,).

Go with the ECO MT or the CDT (automatic). The ECO MT has a dual personality. Keep the engine speed below 2000 RPM and watch the gas companies cry for lost revenue. Above 2000 RPM and you can have fun in the corners and straights. None of the gas Cruzen are particularly quick from a stop. As for soundproofing there is more than enough in the ECO MT. Your daily drive will make the extra fuel economy of the ECO MT or the CDT well worth it. Our turbos aren't for speed - they're designed to take a very small displacement engine (83 cubic inches) and give them a significant boost in power for mid range acceleration and cruizing efficiency.

The gearing on the ECO MT is different from just about any other car currently or previously on the road. As such, it takes some getting used to but once you get it you'll discover that the benefits on the highway are enormous.

Depends on how fast you reach 60,000 miles. The Goodyears on the ECO and CDT are treadwear warranted for 60,000 miles.
Love me a good warranty
