So this is pertaining to my Fiance's car and stuff i have noticed.

I've been reading through the forums with little luck finding hits at issues i have noticed.

Do these cars boost limit in 1-2-3? As i have noticed this car pulls much harder once in 4th gear.

Do we have an issue with the throttle or is this a common thing for them, i get better acceleration NOT going WOT, but holding in the 80-90% range. it reminds me of now my Holly is when its not tuned right (too lean) 87oct in the tank. But the same holds true with 91 as well(Under 5% dilution).

this car has a compyter system that will only let out a set amount of torque & HP. I feel the same the car does better if you don't floor it. But try one time, hold the traction control button near the shifter for a few seconds the light will come on showing it's all off. Try a launch like this I feel a difference.

If you are looking for anything that resembles decent power the CRUZE is not the Car. My 86 Turbo Colt had power that pinned you back in 1st and part of 2nd gear. It was a 1.6 w/ 110 HP, what gives? I'm afraid to use wide open throttle in the CRUZE for fear of it breaking

My Cruze gets the most takeoff power at about 40-50% down on the gas pedal. When it gets to about 4th or 5th gear I can push the pedal down further and it increases power. But it's still better when I don't push it all the way down. Everything (including throttle) is controlled by the ECM, so it must have been programmed this way. I refer to pushing the gas pedal instead of opening the throttle because I don't know how the ECM controls the throttle, or if putting the pedal to the floor creates WOT.

How many tanks of 91 have you used? The car gets used to 87 if that's what it had for a bit and takes a while to fully allow the 91 fuel map to come out of hiding.

I disable TC/SC frequently.

While i wouldn't be looking at the Cruze as powerful, Its decent enough for a grocery getter, fuel miser.

I'm not overly concerned about it breaking, laggy auto at times yes.

Indeed i did use the wrong terminology, i should of said WOA (wide open accelerator) since their is no mechanical link to the TB. I'm used to the older style.
Is that "programming" something the BNR tune changes IE fixes linearity of power to throttle so WOA is full power and not in the middle.

Tanks total, maybe 5-10. IN succession none i think. I really expected the computer to be better(faster) than that. I will change up for a while and reassess how it is. But as you explain it, its never ran on the full 91 map then.
The car is sitting at about 42,000 KM (roughly 26,000 Miles) and our average for the last 41,000km is 7.7L/100km on mostly 87 Octane.
Driving like grandpa i can get a tank to average about 6.6 if i try (city/highway/dirt road) using only manumatic.
Much better then my truck gets (17-20+l/100km)
I have been Considering getting a similar car for myself but in standard to replace my truck as my DD.

I noticed this switching from 89 to 93. I thought it would get used to the 89 and almost did but then switched back to 93. Car overall is running much better.

Figured i would drop in and give and update here to my thread.

We are at 76,300 KM or right about there.

Two tanks of 91 was all that was needed.

I gave up driving the car in auto. Letting the car sit in 6th nets 7.7-7.8L/100km, in 5th i get 7.4. when it was wearing the summer tires. With winter tires its now 8.4L/100km Direct comparison. I was surprised its a 4mpg hit for the winters. (tire pressure is correct)

My biggest gripe with the car is the un predictable roll out. One time you pull out and its like i need to grab a paddle and help, and the next time its spinning the **** tires. worse when let to its own shifting.

I have noticed it forgets to drop back gears if i'm creeping in traffic and in 3rd, then coast to a stop at a light. it i stays in 3rd. Its habit now to just give a couple tugs on it when the lights red.

Car gains 200km a day every day.

Just got it back from a head gasket replacement.


Super excited winter is back though, it likes the colder air better.

Thanks for the update. I have noticed the same thing with my 1LT Auto. I have had times when it spins the tires from a full stop and I have even had it chirp the tires when shifting into second. It launches so fast that my head hits the headrest and it pushes me back in the seat. Other times it feels like a dog and barely accelerates.

I think it has to do with the weather. I have been watching the torque app and my weather station at home to see if I can find a correlation. I also bought a small handheld weather station that I keep in the car. So far it seems to get the most power when the temp is around 50 F and the humidity is around 50% and the barometer is above 30 inches. And, like I said previously, I get the most launch power around 40% throttle. I only use 91 octane. I think there might be something in the computer that changes the tune based on air density, and I think there may be an optimal air density for the car, but I don't know exactly what that is yet.

Yes to both posters. Weather plays a factor and the front mount inter cooler being sandwiched between he radiator and condenser doesn't help much either when you sit and idle in traffic. Doesn't look like I kept up on the comment earlier in the year. The car isn't flex fuel so there is no actual fuel sensor in the fuel line to detect the type of fuel. It goes off how poorly the 87 is doing after you fill up with gas. When you get gas, the car resets to 91 octane map and you get that initial rush from that map leaving the station. Go into rush hour traffic with the A/C on and now you heat soak the inter cooler and MPG suffers till you move enough air through the car moving. 87 os notorious for casing the fuel trim switch by 91 and up can also cause it if the heat is up there.
