Radio never works properly
Good morning everyone,
My 2012 Cruze has the (from what I see) typical issue with the Radio.. It will power on and off by itself, whether I manually power it off to avoid the annoyance or not. If it does come on, most of the screen is not working and does not respond. I have not been able to use my navigation, save new radio stations, listen to a CD, or use the bluetooth in months. This isn't even touching that the USB port has never consistently worked. :angry:
I took it to my local service department yesterday, and they said I need a whole new radio. That it isn't communicating. They also want a hefty $1200 plus labor costs for it! I have so many issues with this. It's a 4 year old car, with only 47,000 miles on it! This is a very known issue with this model. The manufacturer warranty of course expired last year, and the extended warranty the dealership I bought it from scammed me into doesn't cover any part of the radio.
I have already been in contact with Chevrolet Customer Care about this. I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this issue outside of warranty?

There is a special coverage for the negative battery cable, and multiple reviews online of consumers having the same issue I've had.
Have they replaced your negative battery cable yet? If not have that done - it's a free extended warranty item and may fix your radio.
I've never seen a Cruze with a radio issue, and I work at a Chevy dealer. Fortunately, that battery cable is not related to the radio. It is the negative ground for the battery, which happens to supply power to the whole electrical system. Having that cable go bad can have all kinds of things go wonky, but GM added a special coverage on it so you shouldn't have to pay.There is a special coverage for the negative battery cable, and multiple reviews online of consumers having the same issue I've had.
