I have a 2011 Cruze LTZ with 32k miles and about a month ago some strange issues have started in what has otherwise been a great car. Here's the timeline:

--Last month I noticed whenever I tried to lock or unlock my car (from both the remote as well as the lock/unlock buttons on the dash) the car was completely unresponsive. Tried using my spare remote as well to no avail. I made an appointment at the dealership two days later but on my way to the dealership I realized the problem fixed itself so I cancelled.

--After a night class two weeks later I returned to my car and pressed the unlock button multiple times but the car wouldn't respond to anything the remote was sending out (lights didn't flicker like they usually do or anything). Naturally I used the regular key to unlock my car but because it thought it was supposed to be locked the alarm went off and because it was not responsive to my remote it would not stop! It honked for 10 minutes echoing in a parking garage until finally it randomly decided to respond to my remote. Again, it was a one time incident and hasn't happened since.

--I moved from Tampa to Naples in January so naturally I changed the presets on my radio after I moved. Today as I was driving I pushed the "next preset" button on my wheel to turn it to a different station I'd saved and in that instant (with no hesitation or strangeness from the radio whatsoever) it immediately replaced my new presets with what I had saved in it from Tampa almost 4 months ago; exact order and all. And no, I did not click on a different favorites page or anything like that. It literally backed up my old stations and automatically put them all back on.

My battery was replaced last November and was tested two months ago, it's fine. I'm really just worried about the next time my alarm goes off and I can't get it to stop. I feel like taking it to the dealership would be pointless; how can they diagnose what they can't see happening, considering it happens randomly?

I've read it could be a fuse. Any other ideas? Would really appreciate it!

Did you buy the car used? Any chance it could have been a salvage title?

See if your dealership will replace the negative battery cable. While the symptoms you're reporting aren't listed in the bulletin they are sufficiently odd and random to warrant attempting a known simple solution to other strange electrical symptoms.

It could be the BCM, but replacing the Negative Battery Cable is a known solution for many other strange electrical problems, and it's a lot cheaper than the BCM.

Could it be the computer?
Even if it could be one of the processors on board, I think replacing the negative battery cable under the special coverage bulletin #14311 is the proper first step. Given that your battery tested fine, this should be the next step in troubleshooting your problem. The negative cable has a connector crimp that can go bad over time creating intermittent loss of grounding for many different systems. There have been so many bad cables that Chevy has issued the special coverage for them.

When it doesn't respond to the remote, is it always in the same location? There might be some RF interference that prevents it from hearing the remote. That would explain all but the zombie presets. The latter might be caused by the radio crashing and reverting to some prior settings.
