Lol, you'll change pads at least 3 times and probably rotors twice for every set of drums/shoes. It isn't cheaper at all. In all likelihood you will never have to do anything on the rear drums of your car except get them adjusted. That is A LOT of work/money just to be able to match some paint but if that is your flavor have at it. But don't dilute yourself into thinking it is "cheaper". Just doing the conversion will put you past a lifetime supply of shoes and drums let alone the maintenance of pads/rotors in the future.Plus id much rather have discs anyways due to parts labor is cheaper to work on them.
edit: If you do decide to do it your first stop should be local junkyards and see if you can find a Z-link disc brake rear axle. If you are gonna do it may as well go all in and make it easy
