recommended service for low milage (22k miles) 2014 cruze gas LS

I was only doing oil&filter change since I bought my car in Nov 2014, so based on the age of the car what are the recommended services ?
I've asked the dealership and they (different dealerships) recommend on 30k to do the following (not sure if that too much or should be done now based on the age not just mileage):

1. coolant flush
2. allison trans service
3. auto trans flush and service
4. fuel filter
5. pvc valve
6. air filter
7. engine oil flush
8. motor vac injection cleaning
9. power steering flush
10. brake system flush

I'm right with you on a 2014 low mileage CRUZE. I grew up getting those typical Dealer packages spending thousands of wasted dollars over the years. For some reason Chevy dealers are much more relaxed on servicing based on time and the CRUZE is a low maintenance car. Follow what's in your book and you'll see only an Oil change, a Cabin filter, and a Rotation is due. You have a different engine so again check your service booklet at the back and don't let them up sell you as they did me. I made out like a bandit with a free Oil change for voicing my displeasure on a 15K $129 Service which included alignment, a $100 value NOT needed and the machine was broken anyway, so they balanced my tires, nothing was wrong with them to begin with:blowup:

Thanks, but also a lot of people in general recommend coolant flush every 2-3 years ( manual says 150k or 5 years) and fuel filter change too which is not mentioned in the manual.

So a couple problems with the recommended services.... Can't do a power steering flush as you don't have power steering fluid.... It's electric steering. You also don't have a fuel filter. If you do it's in the tank and it isn't a serviceable part. You also don't have an Allison transmission so I don't know how you're supposed to get an Allison service, and you don't have a transmission filter to be changed either. Honestly I wouldn't take it to this shop since they clearly don't know the vehicle. Also the PVC system is built into the valve cover and intake manifold. You don't replace it unless it goes. And an engine oil flush? Do they mean oil change?

Being a 2014 they are correct about the other services time wise. But let's be serious, do you really need to flush injectors that haven't been used? If that was the case you'd have to flush injectors that sit on the shelf for so many years that aren't sold.

If you're going based on time and milage (assuming your 2014 was bought in 2013). I'd say yes to the coolant flush (been 5 years), transmission flush (5 years), cabin filter (20,000km and they get dirty) and brake fluid flush (more than 2 years). Air filter entirely depends on whether or not you drive through dusty/dirty conditions. They can easily go to 40-50k in good conditions.

Alignments are a maintanance item and should be done every year. YOu know. Potholes and such.

Tires should be rotated 10k miles max. They do the most wear and tear when you're in a turn.

Coolant isn't the same as it was in years past. Acid is no longer a chemical in coolant. Therefore 150k miles is recommended instead of 2-3 years. Although it used to be 100k.

It's all in the formulation.

Oh my God I knew I have been forgetting something for the past 44 years, NOT getting alignments unless needed?

What are the symptoms of improper wheel alignment?
– the steering wheel is off center when driving straight
– the vehicle pulls to one side when driving on a straight and level road
– the vehicle doesn't hold the road well, feels unstable, wanders from side to side
– tires screeching when turning
– tires wear unevenly

How often should the wheel alignment be done? For most cars, there is no specific requirements. Your mechanic will typically recommend doing the wheel alignment every two-three years. Often, the wheel alignment is recommended when new tires are installed. The alignment should be done more often if your car has wider tires or if it's a sporty car, e.g. Audi, BMW, Mazda 3, Nissan 370Z, etc. From our experience, we can tell that if you re-check the wheel alignment after a year or two of driving, usually it will be slightly off. If you hit a large bump, the alignment will most likely be off.

Oh my god. Don't beat yourself up. Nobody believes in routine maintanance.

Most don't even change the oil when needed.

BTW. My car WAS slightly out of alignment. Straight off the dealer lot. It didn't have ANY of the symptons in your check list. But inside tire wear WOULD have shown up. Had i just left it alone.
It was caught by the dealer BEFORE tire wear would have started. They ran it over a machine that tests the performance of the brakes AND shows the alignment.

1st alignment performed somewhere around 2000 miles. When the battery got warranteed.

My question is this. Why wait for symptoms before performing routine maintenance? Such as alignments.

Even says right there in your post. After a year will usually be slightly off.

May be the dealer gave a generic list to all cars they serve. I bought my car in Nov 2014 so it is almost 3.5 years old.

Regarding the coolant flush I read on the forum that it is recommended to be done every 2-3 years, how that changed?

Just do the oil & filter change, tire rotation and air filter replacement. You will be good for 100k.

I am on car #4 on that regimen and sell them off at around 110k, mainly because I get tired of the car. I am at 70k on my cruze and the only maintenance i have done are the ones I have listed above. I do them myself and use the best quality stuff available. My driving is smooth. I sometimes delay on doing the tire rotation. Delaying up to 30k interval hasn't really caused issues for me (No, I am not one of those people who are oblivious to issues. I am very sensitive to any mechanical issues).

Maintenance is big business for dealers. Can't blame them for trying to sell them. But, we don't have to give in, you know.

I have a 2012 Holden Cruze diesel and it does have a changeable fuel filter and also hydraulic power steering. I change the oil filter every service and changed the fuel filter at 50K km. I am guessing that list is to cover every model world wide as since 2009 we have had 5 engines available at various times. 2.0L 4 valve single cam diesel and 1.8 petrol 2009-2011. 1.4T 1.8 and 1.6T petrol and an updated twin cam 2.0L diesel from 2011 till production ceased in 2016. (diesel was no more after 2014).
