The car is probably low on coolant. Check the overflow tank, it should be about half full. Make sure to use 50/50 Dexcool, do not use a universal coolant. When the car is low on coolant one of the first things affected is the heater core, no coolant in the heater core equals no hot air in the car.

Well, I'd think the first thing you should do is pull out the owners manual. Because its looking like one of two things is happening. #1 The car is doing exactly what you are telling it to do, read section 8. Especially the part about "remote start climate control operation". #2 Your just not waiting long enough, because these engines do run so efficient (and being small) they take about twice as long to heat up as older cars.
