The cruze is in for brake failure and the parts required to be replaced are on national backorder. So I'm in a rental car for a while most likely. But the dealer will not pay the insurance for the rental. It's $34/day. I can't afford to pay this. Has anybody else had this issue? Just bought the car in March and it's certified pre owned.

OK had to go back in time for a post

http://www.cruzetalk.com/forum/9-ge...st-ran-into-my-garage-just-now-no-brakes.html

Was the braking system for Auto and Manual different beside sharing fluid with clutch? When I burned up my booster pump I had another one in 3 hours in the middle of nowhere. Does your insurance have loss of use rental?

*Not so Ninja Edit* What happened to this?

The rentals insurance is covered by your own insurance......call to verify, I'm not kidding though......All the add on insurance covers is your deductable in case someone uninsured bops you.....but the main expense goes to your own company, same as if you were in your own car.

This is a old scheme the rental companies play to get extra dough out of you.

The Insurance is $34 per day? WTH kind of rental did you get?

This is on a per dealer basis, TBH. Also if you get a rental, pretty much no company will pay for the insurance.

I misunderstood what was going on with $34 a day as in the actual rental being out of pocket. My insurance covers it but they may molest you if the company tries to say you damaged the rental. Reason I will drive a rental hard for 2 blocks and come back like "Nope, lets try the next one". I had a Malibu pulling hard and a Impala with damaged engine shield that I caught before I took my 1100 mile trip.

Cool thanks guys. I looked up my insurance coverage and found this in the Q&A:

The first step is to check your auto insurance policy, or contact GEICO to see what your coverage is. If you carry comprehensive and liability coverage on your personal car, coverage will extend to your rental car. If you’re renting a car of similar value to your personal car, in all likelihood the insurance coverages will be adequate for the rental.
And I have enough bodily/occurance, non insured, and property damage coverage on my policy. If I had to get this rental insurance, it would be over $600 in a month spent for insurance. Nuts.

I've been renting cars for over 40 years.....my own insurance co. (State Farm) says no problem......policy moves with me.
Thats why the rental companies back off if you choose not to sign up.....they know it's a scam, but will try every time.

Rob
I know people who purposely pay that enterprise insurance because they are reckless and want no strings attached. I've only killed rentals due to mechanical failures, this fool totals them. I was heart broken when I had a 2010 Vic LX with LOW miles and killed it in 2 hours.

That is your Insurance company. I have been renting cars for many years as well, and I have had probably 30 different insurance companies, and only 1 or 2 cover a rental car, unless they provide it due to an accident.
