Back in the day of points ignitions, I was installing a new coil in my hopped up Gremlin. (wait for it)

Somehow I dropped the coil and broke out one of the terminals. The terminal was literally hanging by a thread of a wire. I was broke after buying it so I tried to install it anyways. In my haste, I connected it backwards. Not realizing what had happened, I got in the car and started it and believe it or not it ran like a champ for six months after that until I had money to replace the entire ignition system. That is when I discovered my "mistake."

I once put engine oil in the power steering reservoir of my '81 Ford F150 when I was in college and knew nothing about cars. The F-150 quickly protested at my mistake, letting me know very vocally that it did NOT like what I'd just done.
