Well after only 1 year 9 months and 14 days, I have officially crossed over 36,000 miles.

No problems yet, other than the 1-2 grind under WOT which I remedied by changing my manual transmission fluid to the Amsoil syncromesh and tweaking my driving style. I recently replaced the battery, but only because I felt it wasn't holding a charge up to my standards. It never had any starting issues, but I could tell it was getting weaker and since the temperatures dropped, I noticed the alternator would always be charging whenever the car was running. The battery itself was 3 years old and it sat the dealer lot for a year with no activity so I got paranoid and replaced it before it had a chance to give me any trouble.

I'm trying to stay on the side of preventative maintenance rather than waiting until something fails. Next spring it's getting new tires, another transmission fluid change, and some new spark plugs.

I've really grown to love my Cruze and I am hoping it will reward my diligence with many years of humble service.

Haha I'd borrow your extra miles if I could. I considered driving to work in reverse to avoid crossing the 36K mark but I think TN frowns upon that.

I was thinking of cancelling my extended warranty. I bought the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and the extended warranty cost $1.6k (not including the interest rate from my auto loan).

Any pointers or tips?

Bought my 2014 2lt as a leftover in Jan of 2015.....so far so good but only 12000 miles on it....will run out of 5 year warranty well before my 100,000 miles.

Just remember that 5 years is based on when the car was first sold/placed into service. So your 5 year may well run until Jan 2020.

Was the extended warranty purchased through the dealer? I know the name has changed, but I am thinking about buying this now as I keep getting different notices in the mail and have heard that this was the way to go. I guess I should go ask my dealer...:whatdoyouthink:

Well I might have jinxed myself. This morning after a decent snow I decided to go to the bank. After I cleared the snow I set off. I then tried to roll my drivers window down and heard an odd noise I had never heard before. Sounded like the motor was moving but the window wasn't. Sure enough, I could move the window down manually. The window will roll itself UP but not DOWN. I'm fairly certain I broke something or some part of the window mechanism came unattached.

I talked to the Chevy dealer and they think it's broken and I'll have to replace the whole regulator which requires drilling rivets and replacing them with bolts. ~$180 for the regulator and ~$140 for labor. I'd replace it myself but I don't have the tools to drill rivets, nor do I really want to drill parts of my door. That's slightly out of my comfort zone. Only 250 miles after my bumper to bumper expired. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Has anyone had this problem before? How did you solve it if so?

As long as you're still under the New Car Limited Warranty you could have purchased this protection. You will get post cards and letters from countless companies offering bumper to bumper coverage, best to go with a plan from your dealer. The specific policy I have can still be purchased under a different name and the newer G.M. branded policy can also be obtained but they can be costly. For example I bought a GMPP for $1600, returned it, dropped by the next closest dealer and bought the same plan for $1000 with an additional $100 going to the shop. The only reason this happened is because one Chevy Dealer didn't like the other Chevy Dealer and wanted to burn the F & I guy and my friend, the Sales manager out of $600 in extra profits, I was all for that!

If anyone is thinking of either buying or declining their extended warranty. If you have Geico, they offer a pretty good alternative. It's called MBI (mechanical breakdown insurance) and it's pretty bad ass. For me instead of paying 1.6k + interest for a 7 year /75k extended warranty. I opted for Geico's MBI which is $30ish followed every 6 months for coverage of 7 years or 100k miles. I s my that as a win win. Just wanted to pass in the savings
