Rising gas prices...aren't you glad you bought a Cruze now?

As I watch the gas prices go up here in Oklahoma where we usually have some of the lowest prices in the nation, I am so glad I have a gas saving 2017 Cruze to drive ( averaging 34 city 39 hwy using premium 91). What surprised me when looking at compact cars and smaller how the Cruze mpg beats many. Almost have to get a hybrid to do better gas wise but the cost jumps too so not sure if it's really a savings all around. Ironically the carmakers say the buyers are now buying gas guzzlers because gas has stayed low. Well what do these buyers do when gas starts to go up and up and up back to nearly $4 a gallon? I think us Cruze owners will be laughing and smiling at the gas pumps eh?

I am really glad I have a Chevy Cruze as my primary ride. I also have a F-150 SuperCrew w/ the 5.4L V8 & everytime I drive it - I truly appreciate my little gas sipper, I don't have to stop at the pump nearly as often as I w/ the truck. :) So heck yeah to the title of this thread, I am really glad I purchased my Cruze! haha

The gov signed this bill so our gas and diesel went up but not too bad. Wonder if the oil and gas production taxes will trickle into the gas prices though?
The tax package House members passed includes an increase in oil and gas production taxes from 2 percent to 5 percent, a 3-cent increase to gasoline taxes, a 6-cent increase to diesel taxes, and a $1 tax on a pack of cigarettes. It also contained a $5-per-night hotel/motel tax, but the Senate repealed that part.
Isn't it ironic that the higher the taxes go the more debt there is.
That's about as screwed up as it can get.
Talk about complete utter incompetence.

Regarding saving fuel costs by driving a turbo Cruze as compared to other non turbo compacts, do you really save money over the other brands if you allegedly have to run premium gas (which where I live is almost a dollar more per gallon) just to avoid having the pistons cracking? :(
E85 sure does lower mpg significantly compared to E0 or E10, in any properly functioning E85-capable vehicle, unless someone can identify a counter-example...

E85 has way less energy per unit volume compared to E0 or E10 gasoline...

And gasoline has way less energy per unit volume than diesel... ;)
At a nearby Speedway station, E10 87 octane is $2.86, E85 is $1.86, and E10 93 octane is $3.46.

It would be nice to have flex fuel capability, then I'd buy 30mpg E85 over 40mpg E10 at these prices.

With less price differential on the E85, I'd still like to be able to throw in 3 gallons of E85 for an octane boost and fill it up with regular, instead of paying substantially more to fill it up with premium.

If you tune for E85 specifically, you can reduce that MPG loss by being able to advance timing, while enjoying a very noticible power bump. With boost, you can run more as well, furthering the power increase even more.
