storing international number in bluetooth handsfree memory

Hi,
I bought a chevy cruze 2012 yesterday. I was going to post a problem, but I figured out the solution. I'll post it anyway.
I was trying to store a an international number to my car's bluetooth-handsfree memory.
The number begins with +91 where 91 is the country code. When I say "+91" the recognition system always misses the "+".
