Taking the paint off my wheels..

1302 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  anthonysmith93
So I have decided to take the black paint off my wheels and go back to the factory finish.

How they got to where they are now:

They were painted black about 3 years ago with a single coat then had clear sprayed over that by a vendor that comes to the dealership to fixed damaged wheels and whatnot, (was done with paint gun) about a year ago they started peeling really bad and the vendor said he would redo them. With no prep work or taping off he resprayed them and not sure if he covered it with clear on this application or not..

My question is what would be the easiest way to get the black off? Would a simple paint thinner and rag work? Should I use sandpaper also? Please help, I don't want to ruin the factory finish.. Alloy wheel Tire Rim Wheel Vehicle

You need to blast with walnut shells.
Best stuff ever!! Just brush it on let it set and wipe off with a towel or dry rag.. Some spots take a little elbow grease but for the most part it takes minimal effort.. Drain cleaner Gardening Liquid

Looks like both Lowes and Home Depot carry this stuff ranging from 12-13$ a quart
