The damage in those pictures can't be caused by driving on a flat tire. Rim damage from driving on a flat will be at the outer edge of the rim - your damage is where the rim was picked up improperly.
Do you have any other GM dealerships not owned by this same crook? If so, take your car there. If I can figure out how to post the audio from my phone conversation with the dealership manager - and know that I wouldn't be violating any privacy laws- I would totally let you guys listen.
Someone on a FB forum told me that it looks like they didnt replace the valve stem when they put on the new tire. Apparently, that's standard. If it's the original valve stem, that may have been the source of the original air leak. That makes me feel better because I was worried it was a worse issue.
I think I mentioned that the other tires were going low as well. Well, the PSI numbers went back up. I'm told those sensors can be affected by the weather...like a change in outside pressure, I guess.
So, I spoke with the manager and he said he will look at the valve stem and replace it, if that's what it needs. He said he has a person who repairs rims and it would be a $45-$65 charge to me.
He said that the repair order was noted and signed by me, indicating there was rim damage already.
I said whatever I signed was signed BEFORE anyone at the dealership even looked at the tire. I was told that I was signing the paper that gives them permission to do the work. It wasn't until we noticed the rim damage, and had been talking to a service manager for several minutes, that any kind of "acknowledgment of prior damage" form was presented. The service guy disappeared during the argument with his manager, came back, and magically had that form.
I just can't believe someone would do that!
The dealership manager went on about how he doesn't doubt the integrity of his employees and that if they make mistakes they are honest about it.
In the end, he said he would pay to have the rim fixed, but he wouldn't replace the rim.
I REALLY don't want to have them touch my car again, but at this point I think it's my only option.
Thanks for reading about my car drama!
