Time for a change?

Usually when ever something happens(rather dramatic) I end up making a change. Last night I got a ticket for 45 in a 25. You may be thinking so what! I have noticed recently, in my 2012 Eco it is rather hard to judge speed and I can look down and notice I am going faster than I thought I was! So when I was pulled over last night, and was told I was doing 45 I do not know whether to believe I actually was going that fast or not esp since I had my speedometer set to trip2 and you really cannot see the analog. I know at times I can "live life in the triple digits" or even 80+ on the highway and depending on the amount of traffic, not really feel the speed. I know my wife at times says why are you driving so fast and I think What are you talking about(If that makes any sense) I am thinking it has to do with the 17 in wheels and the high gearing of the Eco. I am thinking just a change to diff. trim level Cruze with a 6M(newer LT or maybe a Gen II?). Actually for the amount of hills and city driving I do maybe an Eco is not the right trim level for my driving.

Have you thought of giving up driving? Between landing on that Rock, buying a Honda Accord a couple weeks ago and smashing into a sign hours after you bought it, and now speeding uncontrollably in your CRUZE AND thinking of getting a slower trim I'm getting worried? The mind is the first thing to go:wub:

get louder exhaust. In my Eco I would be doing 110 and not even notice! I started using the speedo on the DIC to keep me in check. Now in my Genesis, I'm always looking at the speedo because it sounds like I am hauling ass, but I'm not.

The answer to your problem is to be more vigilant and pay attention to your car man. Don't want to sound too harsh, but come on, it's your responsibility to control your vehicle. I witnessed this last night

Driver was not paying attention and blew a stop sign, smashed into another car and rolled. He had to be cut out. Thankfully the couple he hit was ok.

Luckily you only got a speeding ticket.

Cruise control my friend, cruise control. Our cruise control will set down to 25 MPH. This is the only way I keep my license. :)

In the city I use my cruise control anytime I'm going over 24mph(the speed you can set the automatic transmission cruise control at). I wish I could set it at 15-24mph for all those idiots whom can't even drive the posted limits.

How do you get a Blue plate in the Golden State these days? Sure I had one in the 70's and wanted one for my dark Blue Sonata and my Blue CRUZE but when I researched this about 7 years ago there was only White and weird vanity styles
Just an opiniòn for ya ....

Ride the backseat for awhile ...Yep let yer wife or yer son do the driving for awhile ..then be quiet and just ride along in utmost pleasure without any disturbances from you ...life is riddled with mistakes and you make a lot of em as of late ..slow down Bro ....

Maybe you should leave the DIC set to MPH at all times now...

FYI I was not going that fast! I think this cop was just bored and I was the first car he saw in the longest time had to go that fast to catch up to me and since I was ahead of him, so I must be speeding. I would have asked to see the radar but he and the other 3 cops would have probably arrested me for being a subversive!

I agree, esp since I know my car is not getting hyper cruzer MPG and most of my driving is city anyway. Thus I think the Eco is the wrong type of car for me. Like I told my wife when I confessed to getting the ticket, I don't want to hear anything more about it from her and the reason I did not mention to my bro in law, it would have become an international incident and I could have seen my in laws in VN calling to talk to my wife about how bad a driver I am like after the pole incident!!!! So you think it is bad just taking it from you guys I hear it from overseas!!!!!!

Buy a car with a HUD. My father's XTS has one and it lets you know exactly how fast you're driving even when not looking.

I have a stick on the windscreen GPS and it shows the speed limit and what my speed is wherever I am. It also turns red if I go over the limit by 5kph. Sorry, but I am overseas as well.

Fwiw, any 1.4 manual Cruze is an easy car to speed in - especially once you're in the powerband. I'll find myself doing close to 80 pretty often on the highway.

Really, any pretty quiet car with a halfway decent engine and tires seems to have this problem. They don't build em like the 70s-80s cars anymore where you heard tons of noise out on the highway.

Well since this incident, I have certainly made it an overwhelming activity to use my CC and truly pay attention to my MPH unlike ever before. I have definitely noticed my MPG going up and sitting @ 35 even with all my city driving and not running thru the gears like b4. Typically now I will find myself in 4 or 5 with the CC set to @ 37. My only problem is all the hills in Cincinnati that make me downshift a bit. I have noticed driving being a bit more relaxing as I don't find myself in a hurry much anymore. Even considering "de tuning" my car but will probably leave alone.
