Turbo spool sounds weird

Instead of a high pitched whistle is makes a pfffffffff sound. I only have a intake on it. Boost leak maybe? Normal?

The car didn't make the sound until the intake was put on. Normal power is still obtained and very good gas mileage. No codes, if boost loss would even throw one.

thank you

It's probably normal as the intakes make a ton of whoosh noise when switched from the stock one.

Bummer. Does your sound like what I'm describing. Specifically on the highway in 6th if you give it a little gas to make a pass or something. The blowoff "whoosh" sounds great but the psssssssss spool sound is horrid lol

Haha yes it makes the same sounds, everyone always thinks my car is broken lmao

This is definetley normal. When i had a k&n sri it made an aggressive pfffff sound when pulling
I have the ingen, I notice the turbo spooling anytime I get on the gas. It is only audible between 1,500 and 3,000 rmps. Everything was quite before the install. Mine being manual I get a very distinctive Ptshhh from the BPV when shifting. That will normal spooling for your turbo because it is limited to 17lbs of boost. Tuned to allow it to make all 24lbs it's capable of should give a more distinctive high pitched "turbo whine".
Haha ok good to hear that's normal. I think I was just expecting something similar to a diesel lol

Does the stock turbo really make 17lbs of boost? That's actually kind of awesome for such a little monster.
Indeed. A tune is next on my list. Not a single person on here seems to have regretted it. There is sufficient evidence to support the power gain, however then the door opens for the other things that come with more power. Brakes, suspension, the list goes on... fortunately there is fantastic aftermarket support for this car, as well as factory.
I just installed the AEM intake and I get the same thing. First time I heard it, I shut off the radio to analyze it. Thought it sounded horrid at first. now it has kinda grew on me. I really wish it had more of a whine to it and the blow off is weak too. But unless I want to throw out my warranty, I am stuck with this. I only have 750 KMS on it so far.

Yo...after my intake was put on now i here the turbo sound but I figured it's supposed do that since it's been through many mechanic appointments but anyways.... my turbo for the first like half a quarter Mile sounds like a big hose blowing air through a turbo with power of Adolf cart.. then it kicks in after the half way and boost and whistle power but I think it's got more power but an issue
