I might add, it's for sale at a Chevy dealer, but not the one it was delivered through initially.
Used 2015 LS; Carfax shows oil changes at 6K and 21K
Quite a bit of powertrain warranty left, but the lack of a recorded oil change from 6K to 21K is giving me pause.
Shoud it? Could this be a warranty issue if I need powertrain warranty work ever?

I would ask the dealer if they have record of another one (maybe they can access the OnStar records and see if the oil life monitor was reset in between (not that it means it was actually changed). But the oil life monitor actually might have went 15k miles between oil changes. But I would absolutely ask before buying
If it is not reported, or got changed at a quick lube, it will not show up on Carfax. It has to be entered into system with vin for Carfax to pick it up.
Yeah if you go by Carfax my car hasnt had an oil change in about 20k miles. Yet I have done 4 myself. If you look on the mylink or whatever it's called it will show when you reset the OLM.
Thanks. Carfax actually doesn't even show the first oil change, but the dealer's Service Manager showed me that at around 6K it shows in their system, that another dealer did the "Complimentary 2/24 service". The 21K mile oil change was done at a Valvoline according to Carfax.

How many miles are on the car to begin with? The LS doesn't have the turbo so its not as impacted by oil changes. I will contend however that until recently the dealer oil was total crap. If it were me I'd take off the oil cap and see it it looks like there is excessive varnish/sludge by the cam. Amsoil sells an engine flush that might be a good idea if you decide to purchase the car.
Car now has 26.6K miles.
A 2015 with 26K miles...this car is relatively new. Having pause regarding a potentially missed oil change is legitimate however in the bigger picture not a huge issue.
If the car was having mechanical issues it would have been back to the dealership for warranty and/or recall service multiple times by now and that for sure would be reflected on CarFax. Sounds like that's not the case with this car.
As related elsewhere in this forum, what CarFax WON'T show is if the vehicle was in a minor accident or possibly a deer strike and previous owner had it repaired without reporting the VIN.
The low miles and age of the vehicle makes it sound like a lease return. I've had pretty good luck with lease returns in the past...let someone else take the depreciation hit and drive off in a like new car that will last for years.
Rather than a lease return, it could be just an owner that likes to trade for new every couple of years. Either way, absent a record of multiple service issues, I'd buy with confidence and just make it a point to maintain good service records going forward.

Possibly, but it could also simply be someone who doesn't drive much. I just took my wife's Solara Convertible in for a 10 year service - 41,000 miles.
