Below is a link to an article that contains information and an Autocad rendering animation of the assembly of the new 2016 Ecotec's. Probably a 1.4 or 1.5L. This discusses the new 1.4L Ecotec and it's development for the 2014 China Cruze. All the written specs with aluminum blocks seem to confirm that this is the engine coming to the North American 2016 Cruze when it gets here.
There's also a video of the engine dyno that's set up to tilt the engine during operation to check oil pressure. That video's pretty neat. It has sound. Sounds like their reving pretty hard, while tilting the engine through some pretty extreme angles.
