What is this engine part?
This is a 2011 Gen 1 Eco with the 6 Speed.
This view is up from the ground. I have my catalytic converter out to install the turbo oil drain. I'm trying to run down and oil leak. I'm wondering what this thing in the red box does. It's behind and below the manifold and is bolted to the engine.

Wouldn't being between the exhaust manifold and the engine block and right behind the catalytic converter kind of negate that purpose?
one would think. But I’m no engineer.
