Hello,
I'm new to the forum please ignore any mistakes.
I recently bought to my bad luck Chevy cruze 1.8 LS 2014 with 102,000kms. My second day of purchase on Autobahn car heated up due to leak in oil cooler and as a result complete engine block replacement with 75,000kms used engine. It was all ok for a month but now i noticed from few days that during first cold start in morning when i start the car and leave it for warm up car normally revive higher then it settle down to 800 to 850 rpm in a minute. No rough idle or smoke from exhaust on initial startup but after 3 minutes or later during war up car suddenly idles rough rpm drops to 500rpm or so and same time white puff of smoke comes from exhaust for a second, rough idles happens just 1 or 2 seconds then rpm again normally settle on 850rpm no smoke or problem later.
It happens just once in cold morning start and during all days drive or park for hours the problem never repeat. No engine light or codes appear till now. One more thing I noticed the cooling fan sometimes stay on for long if I leave for idle or if I drive slowly. Its not losing coolant at the moment to my knowledge but it smells coolant if i drive for 20 to 30 minutes. my mechanic checked for leaks but nothing visible.
I hope somebody can help me out.

This sounds like the precursor to what I am dealing with now. My 2016 Cruze Limited LS 1.8L had the same things happening around 80,000 miles. Figured that maybe that my situation can help point you in the right direction and you can get ahead of any future problems.

Currently, about 5000 miles later, I am working on resolving 3 codes P0011, P0171, P0496

P0011 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "Camshaft Position A - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)

P0496 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "EVAP Flow During a Non-Purge Condition

P0171 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "System Too Lean (Bank 1)

Car has been having idling issues from cold start, had intermittently been stalling at idle, and problems turning over after filling the gas tank

From everything that I was able to find these three codes can be a result of a faulty canister purge valve. I've got the part coming in 2 days and will update you if it resolves the issues.

Thanks for the quick reply. New timing belt and tensioner were replaced when engine installed. :)Problem is I have no DTC codes until now but yes you guess right about purge valve. I have a doubt on purge valve because it has ticking sound loud sometimes which can be heard inside the car. I already ordered purge valve from rock auto just to clear my doubt and possible solution. Mean while if you have an update please let me know.

Update!!

That stalling condition on idle with puff of white smoke turn out to be problem related to alternator clutch bearing. Earlier my car had some knocking sound was coming on acceleration which was diagnosed by my mechanic as alternator pulley problem.
Apparently that alternator pulley was causing belt slip also including some variation of electrics on idling may be because of load or whatever. Now that problem seems to be fixed at the moment I hope. I also received the purge valve today and replaced it myself which also cured the ticking noise. I will keep an eye for few more days and will update if anything changes. All good for now 😀
