So I guess now I'm replacing #3 egt
I got that same code on mine back at 61K miles. They had to do some extra diagnosis. They ended up replacing #3 and no further issues. I am not 100% sure about what the additional tests are, but I know they are required to see which sensor is bad.
my test will be to replace it i took out #2 to replace it last week and installed the old one into the #3 slot will monitor it now but it seems temps are not so wide between #2 and 3 now

Most likely only one of the sensors are bad. That being said, if they are the same P/N, and this being a common issue, you'd think they would both eventually fail on every car, but seems like it's only one of them most usually.
EGT 2 went out for me yesterday. Read about 80F and not 300F like it should.

Which is odd. It gave me P2080, which if for EGT 1. But EGT 2 was the one causing trouble. Something's not right with how the codes are lit.

I ended up just leaving it and disabling the codes it throws... Will probably keep it that way unless it effects the engine badly...
I just had #2, and #3 replaced at the shop.. covered under emissions warranty.

Mine was replaced under emissions warranty. Not sure why it was for me and not for some people.
