Hello everyone, my apologies if this has been covered before. I have a 2016 Cruze limited (1st Gen body) with the 6t30 transmission. I am very close to 45k miles and I was preparing to do a trans fluid exchange. I called the dealer, gave them my vin, and after a long wait the guy told me they no longer carry trans fluid in individual quarts, all they have is bulk fluid and it's not for sale. What gives? When did this become a thing? I've heard of people being very happy with the amsoil fluid, will I run into any compatibility issues mixing that with the oe fluid already in the transmission? I'm not interested in going through the hassle of a flush I just want to do a spill and fill. Thanks

Yeah it's fine, although for 1st gen pretty sure you just use this. I did. Amazon.com: ACDelco 10-9395 Dexron VI Automatic Transmission Fluid - 1 gal: Automotive I actually needed that and a bit more.
Dealers switching to bulk is nothing new, most dealers over the counter sales are miniscule compared to their in house sales, and bulk fluid is both easier for the technicians and higher profit margin for dealer.
Mobil also makes a licensed Dexron VI
As long as your trans is healthy, there's no issue mixing fluids by doing drain and top off services

Looking at the 2016 Limited owner's manual, it calls out Dexron VI. All the major lube brands offer that. Available at parts stores, as well as Walmart, altho nowadays, some Walmarts only carry a narrow offering of ATF.
I've done two drain-and-fills on my 2013 6T30 using Valvoline Dexron VI.

I thought that was crazy. Anything to cut costs I guess. Didn't have an issue calling the Honda dealer to get trans fluid for my gfs car

Good to know. I have access to identifix at work and they specify anywhere between 4.8-6.3 quarts for a drain and fill iirc. From what I've read most people end up using 4.5 but I think I'm going to buy 6 quarts just to be on the safe side. Once I get this fluid I'll update you guys and also make a new thread on my experience with akebono brakes. I'm going to re lube them because they make noise sometimes so I'll be able to get some pretty good pics with the caliper off. Pretty happy with their performance.
Where I live (Thailand) I have to deal with the dealer. I went in for scheduled timing belt and trans fluid replacement. To my surprise they found oil in the coolant, oil on the spark plugs caused by a leaking valve cover gasket, front lower control arms bushings worn out bad brakes, and cabin and engine filters. Total price: $1,629.00. They boxed up all the old parts, they do this in Thailand, and let me examine them before disposal. The thing that surprised me on the repair, was the timing belt was like new, still had the G.M part no. visible.

GMA- I spent a few months in Thailand about 10 years ago for work. Interesting car culture with small engine sedan modifications. Our office was near the outer edge of BKK accessible via the sky train.
You may want to consider trying to order parts from the USA seller Rockauto.com. I know they do a fair amount of international shipping. Not sure what taxes and import duties would be for parts from the states, but I bet you could get all those parts here for under a few hundred US dollars. From what I remember there were a lot of fab custom car shops near the Thai office. Labor can't be that much can it? Maybe dealerships are expensive over there, but I'd expect you could find an independent garage or enthusiast tuner garage to do that work.
Guessing with GM leaving a lot of Asia and Australia part prices maybe cheaper to order from the US. Just a few thoughts to consider.
