The new belt is a Dayco 6PK1550 and is super tight. I'm having a hard time getting it back on. The old belt is GM/Bando 6PK1550 and was easy to get off. Do I need to order a GM belt?
An old belt, even one that has been on less than a day will stretch. Also, if the belt is too tight, you are putting a lot of stress on the shaft, etc. which can cause squealing and/or bearing issues. Some of the applications I deal with are very large motor, belt and sheaves (pulley's), and we laser align and use a frequency meter to judge tension. For instance, the setup we installed today should be 18.1 MHz when new and about 15.4 MHz when used. This equates to the belt being stretched.

Ended up unhooking the coil pack and bumping the starter. The belt went right on. Its still making the noise though. Sounds like it's coming from the water pump. Picture is the old belt. Chevy Cruze 1.8 squealing sound.

Not sure if it is my computer network or the link, but this is all I see:

Just started her up for the first time today. No more belt squeal, ac is cranking. Hopefully it stays like that.

The ticking sound is from the back of the motor, I'm thinking purge valve because that is one of the causes I've seen in the forum.

The rattle is from the exhaust manifold cover rattling.

Update:
I can hear a very faint squeak when the AC is off. Noise from the cooling fan covers it.

The squeak could be the front seal. Have you done the intake PCV check yet? It is one of the possible symptoms of a failed valve.

Chirping...check for a loose plug(s).

Click, tick and rattle cause and fix list

I don't think the 1.8 has the PCV in the intake, from what I have read anyways. Just gapped and put new plugs in a couple of weeks ago. Brand new GM valve cover last week.

Do you think the front seal squeak would get louder with a tighter belt?
You are correct, must have had a brain fart!

Id check the belt deflection. Too tight is bad news. There are specs for how tight the belt should be. Also, the A/C pulley is a clutch, and looks like its not spinning, when the A/C is either off, or cycling, while the A/C is on. So, if you sit there with the hood open, you will see the clutch engage, and disengage, with the compressor trying to stay at the correct temp that you have set in the car.
