Rhino Ramps, do you trust them?

I bought a pair of rhino ramps a while back and I never used them because I just don’t feel confident in them anymore. The plastic being hollow really bugs me. Plus I’ve seen videos of them sliding cracking etc. Am I overthinking? Do you guys trust them? Lol Do they make solid ramps? I actually would prefer using ramps instead of a jack. I’d still use the jack stands as insurance but I’ve got some exhaust work and a coolant flush that needs to be done and I’d like to get it all sorted before winter.

I just went with Race Ramps from the get-go. They cost significantly more, though.

I hate jack stands. But sometimes you don't have an option.

If I can put it on ramps, great - the Race Ramps are epically nice. I also have wheel cribs by them that I use even more frequently. But alas, most jobs require me to put a car on stands.

The ones I looked at were rated for 12,000 lbs and the 2014 Cruze is nominally about 3,005 to 3,471 lbs, more than enough strength.

6,000 each ramp isn't it? I think that's what mine said. Not that I have a 12,000 lb vehicle anyways.

I use rhino ramps all the time for oil changes and the likes. Always use on stable solid ground and store out of direct sunlight/the elements and you will be fine.

My only issue was the clearance, I usually had a throw a piece of 2x6 to clear the air dam from touching.

Thanks guys, I had a bad experience with jack stands a while back. I put them on semi rusted pinch welds thinking the rust was just visual and halfway through installing the pinch weld bent and gave out lucky I put the tire underneath or I would be typing this from another dimension. Also kinda bugs me that the contact point of the jack itself isn't flat either, of course I can just use a piece of wood but the whole idea of gambling my life on if I balanced a 2x4 correctly is not my thing lol

I would still consider using the jack stands.

It sounds like you may have used them wrong. As with my jack, I use a puck with a slit in it to avoid damaging the pinch weld.

Used them, have a set that endured a brutal winter while my car was awaiting a new turbo (on there for weeks). With a lot guy visual inspection, and so long as they don’t look cracked, oily or oxidized, you’re likely to get the rated safety out of them. But, if you can hedge your bets and back up with jack stands, do so. Impending material failure is often hard to recognize…

I’ve used my Rhino ramps for everything from my riding mower, to my Cruze, and even for the Cadillac Escalade ESV I used to own. I have never had any issues, except with my G8, because the front end is so low, it pushes the ramps. A couple footlong pieces of 2x8 work fine. Depending upon what I’m doing, I’ll put some jack stands underneath too.
