Does the light go out if you turn the knob to the auto-off setting?

If it does it sounds like the light sensor is faulty.

Hi…if the car is in drive it stays on no matter what mode I put it on……when the car is in park I can turn it off by switching the knob left (which comes back to “auto” mode on its own). But in drive this does not turn it off..

Canadian spec Cruze might use that indicator for Daytime running lights, too. I take it you havent owned this car for very long?

Obvious question - but have you had someone look at the lights from outside when the indicator is on?

If it's on, and the lights aren't, you have a problem.

If the lights are on, you might have a problem, but whether that is a failed sensor or a legal requirement I don't know.

This is the symbol for "headlights on", not parking lights on GM vehicles.

It means that your low beam headlights are on, and daytime running lights are mandatory in the Canadian market.

]All cars manufactured since 1989 in Canada are required to have running lights, so it is rare to find a vehicle without them. The lights, which illluminate the headlights, aren't for lighting up the road ahead but for increasing a car's visibility to others during the day
