So I'm asked at every oil change and knowing how much they overprice theirs, went to do mine in the same manner I had always done my former 14 model. Clearly different. Long story short, they felt the need during 5 years to change it from pinch and drop down glove box to remove two panels and unscrew 5 screws yadda yadda. 😡😡😡
Clean and new for the first time in 117+k miles and no less than 30 minutes for all the head scratching, etc involved. It SURE needed it!!

Honestly, I'm not aware of an automobile manufacturer that even cares about easy of maintenance any more. Remove the whole front fascia of a car to replace a heal light, sure no problem, as long as the lights "look" aggressive. :ROFLMAO:

My Dealer now scans in a picture of a dirty filter in your file. I refused this time as it was just done 5,000 miles ago, and I don't believe that my mechanic's arm had dark skin? If they spend all the time to pull it out, why doesn't the Dealer tell you, heck I have a spare air and engine filter of unknown quality that I got for free in the trunk. Plus I have found you don't always get factory parts, I caught my Hyundai Dealer in a scam, they were very sorry I noticed and gave me money back

Last year we rented a Japanese RHD Nissan minivan in the Turks & Caicos islands.

ME: “Why does the AC not blow cold air?!”

I pulled the cabin filter and it was so black that you couldn’t see sunlight through it holding it up to the Caribbean sun. And of course no auto part store on a tiny island had the right replacement, so we just went sans filter for the week so the AC would work.

Things that make ya go Hmmmm….I’m Surprised that nobody’s figured out an easier way to change it or a modification to the glove box that makes it easier for the next time & so you only have to do this harder way just once. My 2018 hasn’t been changed either but it sees mostly highway miles to / from work in town.

I cut a door in my glove box flips down and is also nice and tight when closed. Maybe I will take some pictures when I get a chance.

I should take a sawzall to that to make it happen, but I don't consider changing the air filter myself to be a huge burden. I try to avoid doing it on a scorching hot day, but that often fails because it's when I notice the AC doesn't seem to be blowing as cold as it could that I need to change the neglected filter.
