I do a ton of long freeway commuting (450 miles each way) a couple of times a month. If I stick my cruise control at 62 mph I get about 50 mpg, at 65 mph I get about 45-46 mpg, at 70 mph 42 mpg, and at 75 mph 40mpg. It takes a little extra time but saves me a few extra bucks.
That's the problem right there. I don't do any long highway cruising. Most of my driving is local. Besides, if I did 62 MPH on I-95 in CT, I'd be run over by tractor trailers.

I strongly suggest looking at the trifecta tune. It shifts very very well. Vince is a computer guy, so he can program your transmission to shift as leisurely, aggressively, or economically as you want. His Eco mode is REALLY effective. I can get like 26-28 MPG in pure city driving.
Thanks for the tip, but my car is a lease and I do not intend to spend money on something that MAYBE GM should have done to the Cruze if it works so great. I think the fact that the 2012 Cruzes shift differently than the 2011 just shows that GM is aware of the problem, but will not acknowledge it. As long as this latest "fix" that the dealer did last Thursday holds, I'll be happy. When the lease is up in 2 years, I'll be looking for something else- maybe back to a Malibu or the new Impala/Caprice? Who knows. Time will tell. If the gas prices keep going up, maybe I'll get a Vespa! :) Two years from now who knows what shape this country will be in!

Haha I didn't know buddy! If I had a lease, I wouldn't be as anal about my car as I am now! I'd for sure be putting 87 octane in it!!!! Haha, Premium my butt
I put premium in for the first time last week and my gas mileage has JUMPED to 26 MPGs- local driving mostly! That is the highest since I've had the car! I'll see if it's just a fluke or if it stays at that level or goes higher. I don't drive that much, so the extra $$$$ wouldn't be too bad. I have 6,900 miles on my Cruze since February 2011.

cruzin2012, are you using the readout of the guage to check your mileage or actual gas used based upon what the pump actually reads. It seems the readout on the car is usually about 2 to 3 miles more then the pump.--Thanks
