I was told today that my TCM needed replaced. They said it is only covered by the Powertrain warranty, which expired 2 months ago.
I read the warranty and it is also covered under the Emissions warranty. This is where I’m confused. It reads 2years, 24,000 miles OR 8years, 80,000 miles. I’m currently at 77,000 miles. Is the 80,000 warranty only in states that have Emissions testing? I’m in Indiana, and we do not have them.
Please anyone, Help Me!!
Thanks.

You are not unless you have a California address.

Indiana. It states in the warranty that the TCM is covered under the Emissions warranty. I was just afraid that my warranty would only be 36,000 miles, but when I pulled up the VIN on Chevrolet.com and it said my warranty was good for 80,175 miles, I guess they really had no choice but to honor that.

I went to my.chevrolet.com and pulled up the warranty info. It shows 80,175 for Emissions. They have agreed to fix it!!?

In what state do you live? If not Cali. you may have discovered a component covered under a special policy (unwritten warranty).
Keep in touch.

Hmmm....interesting.

Did you buy this car new? I'm wondering if it was sold used to you it may have originally been a California spec. car.

If so, yes, the California emission warranty would apply regardless of where the car is currently registered.
That is about the only thing I can think of that would have gotten you the 8/80 coverage.....in which case, lucky you.
Your persistence paid off.

Nice to know it will work out for you.

Edit: just read maven's post......news to me and good info....thanks for the input!
I wonder how many hundreds or thousands of people have paid out of pocket for this repair because the dealership didn’t know the true warranty info?? From what I’ve read it’s a pretty common problem with the Cruze.
