8/80 is California specific emissions coverage.

2/24 is specific to the other 49 states emission requirements but all manufacturers extend that to 3/36 bumper to bumper coverage.

I went to my.chevrolet.com and pulled up the warranty info. It shows 80,175 for Emissions. They have agreed to fix it!!?

In what state do you live? If not Cali. you may have discovered a component covered under a special policy (unwritten warranty).

Did you buy this car new? I'm wondering if it was sold used to you it may have originally been a California spec. car.

If so, yes, the California emission warranty would apply regardless of where the car is currently registered.
That is about the only thing I can think of that would have gotten you the 8/80 coverage.....in which case, lucky you.
Your persistence paid off.
