Anyone know which would be a better oil filter? I can't seem to find a K&N oil filter anywhere. Not even for the 2011 or 2012. I can find Mobil 1 all over the place. Is there any advantages over one or the other? I just know I don't want a cheap piece of crap in my car. I have narrowed down to these 2. STP I hear good things about as well, but haven't heard much about the K&N and Mobil 1. I would greatly appreciate the help.

AC Delco - filter is excellent - that's all that I have used in my Cruze ECO.

+1 on the AC Delco filter. They are rebadged 'Hengst' filters. Its the OEM filter, and it is a good quality one. Plus you can get them for around $4.33 each on rockauto.com plus shipping. I imagine K&N, Mobil 1, and the AC Delco filters are all quality filters.

OEM AC Delco PF2257G filter is the way to go. A K&N or Mobil1 filter for our cars will be a reboxed OEM filter at best, and a reboxed piece of Chinese garbage at the worst.

I would go with whats recommended and if everyone is going with ac delco I bet it is a good choice. I've always put a fram filter into my cars but have never had a new car before this one, and as an incentive my dealer is doing the first year of oil changes for free so I have yet to get under and change my own oil

The Fram for our cars is a piece of overpriced Chinese garbage. The American-made OEM filter is noticeably better-built than the aftermarket alternatives. I've looked at the Fram, the Purolator (same as the Fram), and a private-label filter for garage use (same as the previous two). The little felt O-ring at the end is thinner and smaller, and the plastic endcaps on the other filters feel flimsier. The media also looked thinner. The OEM filter also looks impeccable after 8000 miles on the oil change.

Now if our cars did not use a cartridge style filter but the older canister style I would use a K&N oil filter. In some of those tough to reach filter locations nothing beats having a 1in hex nut welded to the end of the filter. The housing seems strong enough you could drive over it with a truck and it would not collapse.

The last AC Delco filter I bought was actually made in Korea, the two prior ones I don't recall where they were made. All seemed to be good quality though.

Agreed - my 2004 GTO uses a canister filter and I have used all three - AC Delco, K&N and Mobil 1 - all very good performing filters and that hex would have been handy on the last oil change I did - needed help getting the mobil 1 filter off - must have put it on too tight and it is up against the oil pan with little griping room on the GTO.

AC Delco is 100% the way to go.After all with a 100,000 mile warranty GM wants the engine to last. Smart on there part dont you think !

IMO K/N filters are the best filters for your car period. Long story short, k/n filters provide the BEST filtration over a standard filter. K/n is beyond a premium filter...its a performance filter which means better fuel economy from both air and oil filters. you will have to read about kn filters on their site so you can fully understand them better. And I called kn about the oil filters for the cruze's and they said it will be considered for the future production. The agent told me maybe within a 6month time span we will see them for 2011-2012 models for the 1.8L and 1.4L engines. Mobil1 is good oil...never seen their filters lol. ACdelco filters is good like others say on here ill agree with that. If I had the option id take kn oil filter hands down because of its high protection for the engine.

Mobil1 and K&N oil filters are both Champion Labs products. There are a few minor differences, but they are otherwise identical.

I wouldn't be surprised to have K&N rebox a Hengst filter with K&N printed on the endcaps instead of Hengst. The AC Delco oil filters are reboxed Hengst oil filters as it is. If they do that, get ready to pay for the name.

Long story short, I'll be skeptical of the K&N oil filter for our cars, considering the OEM AC Delco filter is the best-constructed and often least expensive oil filter available. That'll be hard to top.

I've been using Fram filters for a while and never had a problem. Never had a crushed or collapsing filter. I just picked one up at walmart to do an oil change and the filter says "Made in U.S.A" on the plastic end cap (the end cap has identical markings to the AC Delco ones actually). The plastic feels very solid and I cannot make it flex without actually damaging the filter.

Either Fram is also re-badging the Hengst filters or they are making better constructed ones than in the past if they were actually poorer quality before.

Here's a Hengst one I found through a Google search, for comparison.

EDIT: I just noticed the Hengst one I posted and the Fram filters have the same patent numbers on them (RE38,917), so therefore I would say Fram is starting to use re-badged Hengst filters.

I haven't checked the filters I bought in the past, but I remember them all looking the same as this one. And like I said in my edit, they are using the same patent numbers so I'd say it's safe to say they are virtually the same filter.
