2016 Chevy Cruze Limited. Garage said oil leak at the timing cover. $2200 estimate. $656 for parts and $185/hr labor 7.6hrs. 3 yr 36000 mile warranty. That seems crazy to me. I can get the parts for under $200 but they won't do it they said it voids 3yr/36000 warranty.

Any suggestions?

Well, they are certainly doing you no favor.

How basically every shop operates is they use the most expensive parts they can find, then double the price. The idea is most people won't check or notice. The hours are pretty close, maybe an extra hour for pad.

Sadly what you have is par for the course, I'd still recommend getting a second quote when spending that much.

He said the price of the parts reflects the 3 year 36000 warranty. I think his hourly wage ($185) is high too. I'm hoping to find a shop that can do it for $1400-$1600. The next shop I'm going to is $125/hr. Or I'm hoping I can buy the parts and find a mechanic to do the work. The parts are $200.

Oil is ok, it's Dexos1. DEX coolant is what's more important.

Oh I ran. Im not doing the job now. Its not worth putting money in to the car. Ride the wheels off it then get rid of it. I put a bottle of AT-205 in it and it pretty much stopped it for now.

Oil is ok. DEX coolant tis what's important. The 5w30 full synthetic is fine. The car has 101,000 miles on it.

Read the manual, Cruze uses Dexos1 engine oil.

I just updated reply. It is Dexos1. But 5w30 is fine too especially if you're out of warranty.

I have a beautiful 2012 Cruze Hatchback w/ 80k miles in pristine condition.

Oil changes every 6 month's, clean and in perfect condition, interior seats like new, exterior in great shape, new Michelin tires and beautiful 17 inch wheels. No rust!

Your car is a piece of junk because of your lack maintenence and care.

My 1.8 N/A w/ manual 6 Speed gearbox runs like new.

I have this car for 7 years, a great little inexpensive car.

I use AcDelco fluids ALL around, radiator coolant, gearbox, engine oil, and have zero problems.

If your car is a crap, is because of you. Or you just dont't know how to buy a decent used car.

I'm glad you like it. But the 1.4 Turbo is one of the worst engines built. I just bought it with 101,000 miles on it. I only plan to have it for 2 or 3 years. It's been well maintained so it should get me there.

Wow buddy to worship your car when most that work on these things know they were designed to not last beyond 150,000 miles. Designed to run at 221 degrees is the first sign they were not built to last. What size hat do you wear?
