....and if you'd search a little harder, you'd find that there are metal outlets available now, too.....along with metal Tstat housings. GM wouldnt do it, so the aftermarket did.

You're thinking of the RacerX outlet. Yes, they had a batch that had issues. I owned one, it leaked, I returned it. So did others. I understand those were repaired.

As another member said in another thread, try to find one with a metal nipple on top for the overflow hose.

Those are infinitely better than the plastic ones.

Swap out the 220* Tstat for the 180* Caddy Tstat 1.4 ECO - Thermostat Swap - 221°F to 176°F!

Do all that, and any coolant issues with the Gen1 Cruze should be solved.
These are simple, inexpensive modifications that should be done anyway.....

Pedal sensor should be throwing a code if its failing.

BTW, I did all those mods (minus the metal parts, as they werent available yet) to my daughter's '12 and my dil's '14...and neither car had an issue with its cooling system afterward.

IMHO, a lower temp Tstat is absolutely imperative with these cars.
If you dont want to use the Caddy Tstat, there's also this: Electronic control of thermostat temperature 1.4T

Use a good waterpump with good gaskets, too. I use only OEM or ACDelco Professional. Do not use cheap Chinese copies.
