Hello esteemed members,

I'm about to make my first-ever purchase of a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze RS I wanted to know about the optional packages available, and if you have experience with any of them, I would like you to recommend some of your favorites to make the best out of the vehicle.

There are so many options out there that I'm a bit lost, mainly since it’s my first time with this manufacturer. Looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks in advance.

Update:
Hey everyone!

I want to thank all the amazing members of our forum, especially those who gave me such helpful suggestions and info about this car. I was trying to find out about the window sticker, and even after talking to friends, family, and relatives, I couldn't get the right answer. Finally, my uncle's best friend suggested searching online. He told me to use "Chevrolet Window sticker by VIN" as a search term. So, I tried it out and found this really cool website. It's awesome because it even let me search by license plate! Since I had the VIN number, I could get a copy of the window sticker. Thanks again for all your support!

Go with the ltz with the rs package. Power drivers seat, heated seats both front seats, backup camera, sunroof, rs badges and sportier front bumper and spoiler are all great looking on a 2014 cruze ltz rs.
I agree with the LTZ, but would opt out of the RS

The back up camera comes standard on the 2014 LT. I wouldn't consider a model without cruise control. My favorite feature, Onstar was disabled a couple years ago. I just test drove the all new 2024 Chevy Trax, it had the manual seat. I told the salesman as I started the car, I wouldn't even consider the Trax because of the seat, the rearview window smaller, and the stop/start feature

I had a 12 LTZ with the RS package. Did not have the MyLink stereo which I think would have been a great add on but I was not looking specifically for that stereo.

Widen your search and you should be able to find what you are looking for. They are old enough that with or without the MyLink or RS package should not be a big difference on price. LS, LT1, LT2, or LTZ will still fetch different price levels.

I'll be the voice of reason.

It is not normal to have so many issues on a vehicle with under 150,000 miles.

Your PCV valve will fail. Requiring you to buy a DIY Fix Kit from here and replace the valve cover.

Your coolant overflow tank is brittle plastic and fails, the cap will warp and fail.

Your oil cap will spit out oil because it won't seal well after heat cycles.

If it's an automatic it's toast. If it's a manual, enjoy putting in 2.5 QTs of overpriced amsoil transmission fluid regularly to prevent it from overheating and failing.

Camshaft actuator seals, those will fail on you.

Water pump, definitely will fail on you.

Oil cooler assembly gaskets, will fail on you.

Turbo, will fail on you.

I've maintained the hell out of mine, and due to age and poor quality, it's become a question mark of when it will throw another code and fail, and it's only got 150,000 miles.

Agree ... ive done every repair mentioned plus some others like front seal, window regulators for front windows, cooling fan ....
I will say though every since i did the pcv kit ive had no problms w car... so if you buy the 1.4 go ahead and get the kit it helps prevent some of the issues... but dont buy a chevy cruz is my suggestion

It’s good to hear that you did your research before making any commitments. Thanks for the warning,
Welcome Aboard!(y)

Don't forget to introduce yourself and your Cruze here.

Warning? If you do your research, you will find most of the issues with this model are very easily repaired and most repairs will not break the budget, assuming you do most of the work yourself. It is also easy to find people that are ready to give up on a very good vehicle because they do not do the research or do not bother trying to do it themselves. More for those who do the research to pick from. We have many how To's: on the website to help with most of the common issues and more.
