I looked at some vehicles and I might have to switch to being a Ford owner for the first time ever in my life.

The 2025 Ford Maverick will offer the 4K towing package on the hybrid model, instead of prior years where that was restricted to the EcoBoost engine. The hybrid will be better for everyday use as a commuting vehicle (43 mpg city rating) but still tow enough to be useful for us. When the GF's Toyota Sienna finally gives up (should be many years from now) she wants to get an EV and it seems none of those tow much unless you spend a lot of money.

Can the base model V-6 accomplish that?
You will need to verify but Google references say 6200 for the V6 and 7200 for the V8 but it looks that the V8 was phased out in 2024 from the new lineup.

Properly equipped typically means with the factory tow kit installed. It used to be different gears, an added trans cooler, and the factory tow base plate. Not sure what parts get added/changed out now.

For EVs, I see the Rivian in campgrounds more and more lately towing a decent sized trailer but yeah not effing cheap.
We are looking at the Kia EV9 but some or most campgrounds have formal/informal bans on EV charging. As more EVs are used by people, it could overload their electrical system at the RV parks.

A compromise might be to lower the charging level to 12-15 amps so it’s not drawing a full 30 amps from RV site plugs.

Yeah, the Ford Maverick 4K tow package is (AWD required) a hitch, trailer brake controller, trans cooler, upgraded radiator, and bigger/better cooling fan. No gear ratio changes that I’m aware of.

When that appears on the hybrid models this year, I’m wondering if there are any changes to the CVT in that model. Probably a trans cooler added, but the Ford CVT is extremely robust and based off the Toyota patents they licensed 20 years ago. Ford has torn down hybrid Escape transmissions from taxis with 400-500k miles and found them to be completely serviceable with no major wear that would disable them from much more use. It’s one bright spot where Ford engineering got things right.
