That's around 21 US MPG.
Seems low for a small engine. I wouldn't be happy with that in a 1.8L USA car, but I guess it depends on how much time you spend not moving with the engine running.
I'd be happier with 25-30 MPG.

What kind of driving do you do? Are you stock? When I was using 93 octane gasoline and stock, I got 20 miles/gallon mostly city driving and 38 miles/gallon mostly highway with a 1.4L.

My best was 53 on a flat highway when the speed limit was 55. It's been bumped up to 65 now.

I've never even saw close to that stock. The best mileage I EVER averaged was 45 highway on 93 and that was tuned. Are most of you guys ECO and/or M/T?

OP appears to have an international version of the Cruze with the extremely underpowered 1.6L NA engine. Due to the weight of the car his fuel efficiency is about right for urban driving.

Trip length can be a huge factor. I never start a car to drive it less than 15km one-way.

If your daily round trip is 5-10km, your fuel consumption will not be good, but you won't be driving enough to care.

1.6 VW diesels (40 years ago) used to burn about 1/8 gallon per hour at idle.
My 1.6 gas (automatic) Cruze did 0.26-0.28gph, or over twice as much.
My 2.2 Ecotec Saturn (stick) is around 0.32-0.35.
I don't know what a 1.6 CTD does, but I'd hope less than my Saturn.

As he only has 83kw he has the regular 1.6, in Australia the 1.6 is turbo and has 132kw (177hp). I have a 2.0L diesel (120kw, 161hp.) and in city driving I get around 10L/100km. Out on the highway cruising I got 5.9 with wife and holiday luggage and a/c on travelling at 110kph. These cars are simply too heavy to get good fuel economy in stop start traffic, on the highway however it is a different story.
