What’s up everyone so I have a 2012 Chevy Cruz 1.8 6 speed manual transmission I’m reaching out to the public to see if anyone can give me some ideas about an engine swap or rebuild. a little background history I’ve put so much time and money into maintaining this car. I’ve replaced almost every part in it just to see it go like that the most recent maintenance I’ve done to it was new head gasket.(not because it needed it.) timing cover gasket.(needed it. Was leaking oil into coolant reservoir.) OEM gaskets and seals for oil cooler as well as new coolant fluid and fresh oil with filter. New valve cover gasket. New oil pan and fresh rtv silicone. New serpentine belt. New timing belt. New water pump. New pulley’s. New alternator. Resurfaced head & block. Cleaned up entire engine area making it look like it was new… new starter. Fresh transmission fluid. New clutch. These are only things off the top of my head as there is many more things I have recently replaced in the last 2 weeks. While doing the timing cover somewhere along there the oil pump took a dump (I think) because after putting the car back together I drove around the block came back home and as I was pulling in to driveway the car starts to slowly die out. Pull it back in the garage: i check the battery, the starter, alternator serpentine belt and all check out okay but the car is not turning over no sound like if the starter went out on it. I take the timing belt off and try to turn the crankshaft by hand and it’s only turning about an 8th to a 1/4 turns only. Checked the valves and and camshaft and turned those by hand and they all turned okay with no problems. My only thought is that the oil pump went out and didn’t circulate the oil causing engine to internally overheat and do damage to one of the connecting rods or maybe even the pistons too?? Please any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m just tired of putting so much time into this car. What do you guys think I should do , new engine ? Rebuild? Swap ideas ?
